Greetings!
COAL is committed to a qualified, independent and diverse judiciary.
Our legal system is based on the principle that an independent, fair and competent judiciary will objectively interpret and apply the laws that govern us. This role of the judiciary is central to American concepts of justice and the rule of law.
Our confidence in the judicial system is grounded in a belief that judges, at all levels, individually and collectively, will respect and honor their judicial office as a public trust and strive to enhance and maintain said confidence in our legal system. The judge, as an arbiter of facts and law for the resolution of disputes, is a highly visible symbol of government under the rule of law.
COAL devotes a Power Breakfast to hosting a Judicial Candidates Meet & Greet, every election cycle, as an opportunity for its membership and the community to engage with a number of judicial candidates, which include judges running to be elected to a position they were appointed to, judges running for a position on a higher court, and attorneys running to be elected to the bench for the first time.
This is COAL's method of demonstrating support for the judicial system as one of our core institutions and our belief that the quality of those that serve on the bench is critical to our democracy, the rule of law and one of America's most noble pursuits. '...and justice for all'.
Please join COAL at its January Coalition Power Breakfast, this Saturday, January 10th, as we engage with those we elect to rule on matters before the court that impact us as individuals, as a community, and as a nation. RSVP to this notice at [email protected]
