Why Is Trump’s DOJ Targeting the Southern Poverty Law Center?

Today I called into WVON - the host is a former Democrat, now full-fledged Republican, and his guest is a Republican candidate for state treasurer. I should have taken that into account before I called, but I only called because at the beginning of the show someone asked "why is the trump DOJ going after the Southern Poverty Law Center." And the host said he had no idea, nor did the caller who asked the question. So, I just wanted to give my perspective. I said, "In answer to the first caller's question, I think the DOJ went after the Southern Poverty Law Center because trump is losing his MAGA base, and he's gotta have a base, so he's going after the far-right white supremacists racists like the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers and KKK who will support him no matter what. That's why he recently said he wants to overturn and/or dismiss the convictons of the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers." I said, "for years, the Southern Poverty Law Center has been the only source to alert the public and law enforcement and researchers of the existence of white supremacists groups in law enforcement, and to alert the public and law enforcement when something is about to go down in those groups, when they have a plan to do something racist and nefarious. So he is going after them to shut them down, to let his base know that they are safe to operate their racism in trump's America." So the host asked his guest, "what do you think of that?" and his guest said, "I don't question why my president does the things he does because I know he knows things that regular citizens don't know and he is operating from that knowledge" (paraphrasing). He said, "for instance, Iran is a clear and present threat, and they were about to attack the country with nuclear weapons, and this president knew it before anyone else did, and that's why he is stopping them." If the host hadn't hung up before I could respond, my response would have been - "oops - wrong show. I apologize."
But now I think my perception was an understatement, after listening to Jen Psaki on MS NOW who was analyzing that same question, "why did they go after the Southern Poverty Law Center," and she said the DOJ said ... (drumroll) ... violence is caused by anti-racist Black people who created racism to go after white people. Again, those aren't the exact words, but that is the exact sentiment. Anti-racist Black people are the enemy. So if there is a civil war being planned to attack that "enemy" we won't have the Southern Poverty Law Center to warn us.
This isn't funny, y'all - and it's getting more and more un-funny. Forget November, Forget the mid terms, forget the low ratings - trump ain't going out of here without completing his agenda - and I think we are a priority item on his agenda.
