The Art of Starting Over 2026 Edition: Starting Where We Left Off
Jan 06, 2026
I’m easing into this new year.
No dramatic declarations. No pressure to reinvent everything overnight. I’m simply taking my time. I really kept my promise to myself and took two weeks off. It’s the first time I’ve ever done this in my life.
So getting back into the rhythm is going to take some time. I really took some time to reflect and for that reason, I am taking my time so that I don’t just go back to the same old mundane things I was doing to stay busy.
So that we go through this transition together, I want to start this year the same way we ended last year: with prayer.
In December, we prayed for clarity, we prayed for peace, and we set expectations for our lives. Over the break, I spent time visualizing myself living the intentions and expectations I set. I really let myself see them in my mind. I believed they could happen, and now that I’ve done it every day for two weeks, I know that I can create the life I envisioned.
It’s going to take starting a few things over, but since I wrote the book on it, I am not only uniquely qualified to guide myself through this process, but I’m qualified to guide you too. In this blog series, I will use my book to make the starting over process easier.
But before we rush forward, I want to begin with a short prayer. Something simple that you can carry with you and offer to others when they need it. It might even be short enough for you to memorize.
This is my prayer for you:
“May you have wealth in all of its forms.
And may you lovingly release this day and all the other days,
so you can slip peacefully into deep sleep
and awaken at the right time, eager for what’s next,
feeling refreshed and ready for your daily miracle.”
This prayer is short, but it’s full. It speaks to money, rest, timing, release, peace, and possibilities. It’s meant to be repeated and shared. If you can memorize it and say it several times a day, do so. When you are praying for yourself, you can change the “you” to “I.” It is my gift to you. The only thing I ask for in return is that you also send it back to me.
Pray it for yourself. Pray it for someone else. Pray it for me and the Bronzecomm Team, please.
A Full Week of January
It’s been a little over a week, and if you are easing into the new year like me, then don’t get too carried away with resolutions and plans just yet. Before you set all the goals and put the strategy in place, let’s do a short exercise together.
Today, I invite you to do one simple thing:
Notice how you feel about where you are in your life right now.
Write down all the different feelings you have. You’ll probably have a mixture, some negative and some positive, maybe even a neutral feeling. Write it down.
If writing feels like too much, just sit with the question. Let yourself think honestly without judgment. Just notice what you feel. That’s it, nothing too deep. Just be aware.
This is not about fixing anything yet. It’s about awareness.
This exercise comes directly from my book, The Art of Starting Over, and I’m sharing it here at the beginning of the year because it’s one of the best places to begin, especially if you’re considering starting over (again).
What The Art of Starting Over Really Is
This book was born out of real life, not theory.
For fifteen years, I worked as a barber and natural hair stylist. During that time, I listened to so many stuck stories. Week after week, clients sat in my chair and talked about lives they weren’t happy with. The same problems. The same frustrations. The same stories. They would come back each week without changing anything. It got old.
At first, it was just sad. Then it became frustrating. After a while, it got disrespectful. Did they really think I wanted to hear their complaining week after week?
So I started doing something different. I began offering clear, practical guidance. Unsolicited advice, yes, but also steps they could actually take. This was years before I was a therapist. Without any training, I taught myself how to help my clients move forward. And when they came back, something had shifted. Their stories changed. They felt better. They were gaining momentum.
Eventually, people started paying me not just for hair services, but for insight. My tips became bigger than the price of the haircuts.
After guiding my clients through their transitions, it was time for me to transition myself. I went from being a barber stylist to a Financial Advisor. It happened over a four-year period, and I’ll share the story over the upcoming weeks.
People called me brave. Smart. Powerful. But I wasn’t trying to be any of those things. I was pursuing happiness, like every other human being.
That’s when the purpose of this book became clear. I always knew I’d write a book, but it was years before I did because I didn’t know what to write about. The Art of Starting Over is not about perfection or reinvention for applause. It’s about learning how to make decisions that align with your joy and having a plan so that starting over doesn’t feel like chaos.
I’ve done it a few more times since then, and each time I do it, it gets easier. Not because life is simpler, but because I approach it with more clarity and practice. A sense of knowing that starting over is not failure, it’s the next chapter. Sometimes it’s even the next level up.
Walking This Journey Together
Over the coming weeks, I’ll be sharing my own Starting Over Story with you in real time, because I’m doing it again. I moved to Albania on January 2nd with a clear budget and an open mind. Whether I stay or move on to another destination will depend on what opportunities arise. Not impulse, but instinct and intuition. As a Financial Therapist, I’m also sticking to my budget and the clear vision I set for myself at the end of the year.
If you are looking to create your vision for 2026, read this blog each week. I’ll share tips, tools, and my own personal story in hopes of inspiring you to do your thing. Whatever and wherever it is, just get started today with the exercise I shared above.
How do you feel about where you are today? All the feelings.
I’ll share what I learn, and please share with me if any of the things I offer you work. I know they do, I just like hearing the stories. It’s rewarding.
I don’t want to start over by myself, and you don’t have to do it alone either. I’ll keep you company.
