May Coalition Power Breakfast

May 05, 2026

Greetings!

Carl West, a publisher, editor, CEO, father, and mentor shares a personal reflection on coming of age on the Southside of Chicago. His experiences are central to his new book, The Power of Mentoring, and drives his ongoing efforts to help the next generation avoid the challenges he once faced.

West's story shows what’s possible when a young person has guidance, accountability, and a community that refuses to give up on its youth.

COAL is honored to host Carl D. West, Chairman and CEO of MG Media at the May Power Breakfast, with the conversation moderated by David Day, Chairman of 100 Black Men of Chicago.

Please join us for an important conversation on guiding and supporting our youth.

 Respectfully,

COAL Board of Directors
