A Jew, a Christian, and a Muslim walk into the Senate
Nov 05, 2026
A Jew, a Christian, and a Muslim walk into the Senate. Imagine the possibilities.
Jon Ossoff is Jewish. James Talarico is Christian. Abdul El-Sayed is Muslim. With Ossoff seeking reelection and Talarico and El-Sayed running for Senate seats, the possibility of all three serving together gives me something to feel hopeful about.
Three different faiths. Three different life stories. One shared responsibility, if voters send them there: uphold the Constitution and serve the people.
They wouldn’t need to agree on theology to work together on affordable healthcare, better schools, or making everyday life easier for families. They wouldn’t need identical backgrounds to recognize that every person deserves dignity.
That is the kind of America I want to see reflected in Washington: a country where belonging never depends on sharing someone else’s religion.
Their records and decisions should always be open to scrutiny. Their faiths should never be a barrier to service.
There is something beautiful about imagining these three working in the same chamber, with equal standing and a duty to represent everyone.
More of this, please.
