It's A White Thang! You Made This Mess You Clean It Up!

We do not live in a color blind world. Our minds are consumed with biases surrounding race and ethnicity. It’s a proved, scientific fact. While most White people are not racist, there’s just enough of them, along with the misogynists, to gum up the works. Harris lost partly because she is a female but certainly she lost because she is Black. Her image was enough to push the backlash against her over the top, no matter how ever slightly. This is the world we live in, admit it or not.
The same applies to Hakeem Jeffries and the upcoming race to control the House. The image of him as the leader of the Democrats puts their success in jeopardy, whether we admit it or not. Whether we like it or think it’s fair, it’s still a fact. Those same racist forces and sentiments are in play for control of the House and other Democrat legislative targets. His image makes it look like it’s a Black “Thang.”
This is MAGA’s strategy, to convince marginalized White people that the struggle is between Blacks and Whites and to subliminally and overtly suggest to ordinary White people whose side they should be on.
This is why so many underserved and disparaged White people vote against their own better interests. The attacks by the MAGA Congress on social programs, food stamps and Medicaid, adversly impact White people more than Blacks and other non- whites but still underserved Whites reelect Republicans who support legislation that works against the majority’s better interests. These White people are being brainwashed into fearing a non-existent boggy-man, Black people, and it’s been working.
Hakeem and other Blacks should stay off camera and let the White faces dominate the anti-MAGA profile. As much as I LOVE Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett, the same goes for her too. They must resist the urge to get anti-MAGA headlines, and start positioning, maneuvering, allowing and even demanding that their White counterparts take center stage. A good percentage of the fight falls under the notion of “theatre,” and theater is a high level form of communication.
Communication is merely a set of messages with meaning designed to bring about emotions. And in this case those right wing messages have a meaning that is being interpreted by enough Whites to emphasize that Blacks and other nonwhites are a threat, and that the effectiveness of those messages allows the scales to tip right.
I’m telling you that this is in addition to other things a sophisticated and complicated mind game. The right wing Republicans figured this out long ago, and is better at it than the Democrats are. This is also a proved fact.
Image is a communication tool, it has meaning, and meaning evokes emotion which brings forth action. This is one component of MAGA’s success. Ego can sabotage strategy. White Anti-MAGA people need to step up their visibility and anti-MAGA vocals and rhetoric and capture the moment and create a new, counter meaning and image that conveys the message that this struggle is more a White-people’s “THANG.” Why is it so difficult for Democrat leadership to see this?
